Cape Town International Airport Public Transportation
Cape Town International Airport is located about 20 km to city center. The total
trip with a car usually takes around 20 minutes. Taxis, shuttle and buses
options for travel to and from Airport are available.
MyCiTi Bus Transport Service
This service runs between the Civic Centre in the City on Hertzog Boulevard in
central Cape Town, and Cape Town International Airport. Bus depart every 20
minutes from 05:00 until midnight. The Public Transport Plaza is directly
opposite the Central Terminal Building entrance and can be accessed using the
subway under the main road.
The journey to the city centre takes approximately 30 minutes and tickets can be
purchased at the airport station or Cape Town civic station. You need a
myconnect card to ride it, which costs R35 and is available from the airport and
other MyCiTi stations. Fares to the city are between R60 and R100 depending on
the time you ride.
Taxi
Metered taxis are widely available at the airport, and a trip to the city centre
will cost between R300 and R400, although fees may vary. Some have flat rates,
while others charge by the kilometer and you can bargain for the cheaper fees.
Shuttle
Shuttles run from the airport to Cape Town and other destinations in the
Western Cape. The shuttles run from the international inner lane,
representatives of each service, meet their passengers from the arrivals
terminals.
